Merry Christmas!
I have two new songs (with videos) to share with you this month. One is an original song, ‘Seeds on the Branches’ and the other is a cover of ‘Joy to the World’.
The song ‘Seeds on the Branches’ was inspired by Matthew 13:4-8.
“Some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched; and since they had no root they withered away. Other seeds fell upon thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty…”
This song was fun to record and I had the help of a musician friend named Matt who added the percussion and the electric guitar parts, which are especially heard in the middle of the song and the final chorus. The guitar and vocal parts were pretty easy for me to record. The challenge and joy for me on this song was recording the piano part and putting the ambient background ‘pads’. For both of these I used my Rolland FP-30 keyboard. I hope you enjoy the song.
Finally, I did a cover of ‘Joy to the World’ as a way to express my gratitude for my support team and to spread some Christmas joy. I love my wife and three kids. They bring me a lot of joy. I love Jesus. I pray that we may rely upon Him and enter into His joy by keeping Him number one in our lives above media, our fears, our work, and everything else.
I am excited to share with you another new song in January!
Merry Christmas!
